Video and Audio

Clips from a concert we did in Cardiff, April 2016.

The above short video was filmed in St. Davids by Dewi Griffiths of Garlandstone Productions in Autumn 2105. It was very warm, as you can see by Daniel's sunburn!

Cole Porter's classic song "So Nice To Come Home To", recorded in February 2016.

"Hackensack", by Thelonius Monk, from the same session.

About The Moochers

The group was started by Daniel McBrearty in 2013, initially a six piece band playing only swing jazz. In 2014, with guitarist Seppe van Tillborg, he re-formed it as a smaller group (usually trio or quartet) so that they could play more outside Belgium, where they are based. Although they continue to focus on jazz, some of McBrearty's original songs and other influences such as celtic folk, now find their way into the set. Now joined by bassist Seba Thomé, the mission of the group is simply to play vibrant, intimate music with a personal feel.

"I organised a formal conference dinner at Le Plaza Theatre and although the setting was perfect, there was an empty stage begging for entertainment. I wanted a 4+ piece swing jazz band based in Belgium and The Moochers were the only band that I could find with that lovely vintage sound and so many wonderful instruments. The bonus was that they are a 6-piece, which added even more depth and excitement to the evening. Not only were they professional and easy to deal with, but they dressed beautifully and their singer has something very special. All in all - a perfect evening was created because of their amazing sound and I would use them again - any time!"

“For the 60th anniversary party of our company, we booked the Moochers. They were very helpful and flexible and met all our wishes. When we organized a quiz for our employees, they helped out with music questions; and their singer served as master of ceremonies. The celebration was a success thanks to the Moochers, who really added a festive tone.”

(Karen Gerbens, Eli Lilly Benelux SA, 23/10/2014)

"After some passionate talks about our shared love for swing music and dance, we invited The Moochers to CopaCobana Festival, Gent, in June 2013. There was a big crowd of dancers and listeners, who really appreciated their music. The Moochers are 100% professional to work with and gave us a great show, a unique selection of Swing Jazz that made our evening!"

(Sep Vermeersch and Leni Denorme, Lindy Hop Dance Teachers, performers and event organisers)

"When our club organised a steak night to raise funds for a trip to the USA, we asked The Moochers to play for us."

"The concert was a great success! Their music dripped with energy, and the whole tent was swinging with its rhythm. Even the arrival of a sudden rainstorm didn't prevent them from creating a great atmosphere for young and old alike. We highly recommend The Moochers!"
