Video and Audio

Clips from a concert we did in Cardiff, April 2016.

The above short video was filmed in St. Davids by Dewi Griffiths of Garlandstone Productions in Autumn 2105. It was very warm, as you can see by Daniel's sunburn!

Cole Porter's classic song "So Nice To Come Home To", recorded in February 2016.

"Hackensack", by Thelonius Monk, from the same session.

About The Moochers

Sax and clarinet man Daniel McBrearty started The Moochers in 2013. These days he is joined by Seppe Van Tillborg on guitar, Seba Thome on contrabass and Tom Lambrecht on drums. They play mostly swing jazz and bebop, but some of McBrearty's original songs sometimes find their way into the set, as well as other influences like celtic folk, now find their way into the set. The mission of the group is simply to play vibrant, intimate music with a personal feel.

"McBrearty's unforced, dreamy, liquid clarinet is pure delight." (CD review)

(Scott Yanow)

"His clarinet sound and style, while falling easily into the swing genre, does not sound like a copy of his historical predecessors, instead sounding fresh and personal." (CD review)

(Emma Bestley, Clear Channel International)

"I organised a formal conference dinner at Le Plaza Theatre and although the setting was perfect, there was an empty stage begging for entertainment. I wanted a 4+ piece swing jazz band based in Belgium and The Moochers were the best band that I could find with that lovely vintage sound. They added lots of depth and excitement to the evening. Not only were they professional and easy to deal with, but they dressed beautifully and their singer has something very special. All in all - a perfect evening was created because of their amazing sound and I would use them again - any time!"

(Karen Gerbens, Eli Lilly Benelux SA)

“For the 60th anniversary party of our company, we booked the Moochers. They were very helpful and flexible and met all our wishes. When we organized a quiz for our employees, they helped out with music questions; and their singer served as master of ceremonies. The celebration was a success thanks to the Moochers, who really added a festive tone.”

(Sep Vermeersch and Leni Denorme, Lindy Hop Dance Teachers, performers and event organisers)

"After some passionate talks about our shared love for swing music and dance, we invited The Moochers to CopaCobana Festival, Gent, in June 2013. There was a big crowd of dancers and listeners, who really appreciated their music. The Moochers are 100% professional to work with and gave us a great show, a unique selection of Swing Jazz that made our evening!"
